I started shouting yes! when I heard on CBC radio that the Canadian school board was considering an anti sex-trafficking curriculum for vulnerable teens. What a great idea. I’ve long thought that there should be a chap book about how to protect children from traffickers. Considered writing one myself. Predators are savvy and have certain predictable tricks. TK Prichard, who works for the Sexual Assault Centre in Waterloo region, says he came up with the idea after teachers approached him asking for information. Apparently, Waterloo region is a hotbed for new trafficking cases. TK’s materials are aimed at middle grade students, as the average victim is 12-15 years old. This is tragic. But there needs to be something for parents too. Pedophiles often begin by grooming the parents.
