Praise for The Weeping Degree:
What do dead girls need in the afterlife? They need the poems of Kelly Watt so that the daffodils will return to run rampant over the ground with their crazy yellow hope.
--Paul Lisson, poet and editor of HA&L, Hamilton Arts & Letters Magazine.
My new collection of poetry and prose, The Weeping Degree, is live on Amazon in two formats. If you would like to buy it, I WOULD BE ETERNALLY GRATEFUL IF YOU do it today, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 21. Astrologically it’s auspicious, we are in the midst of a blue super moon, poised between ebullient creative Leo and Virgo, the champion of women.

(You can bring the paper copy to the launch party in a few weeks for signing.)
There are a lot of things I’ve learned about promoting a book in the last 90 days. The first thing is that it turns out, with a small independent press, you want to encourage people to buy on one specific day if possible. Although the results may not show for a week, it affects the Amazon algorithm and book’s sales ranking, which makes you eligible for other types of marketing. If you think you can buck Amazon, they now sell the majority of all books online. And if you don’t achieve a good ranking with Amazon, well your book sinks like a stone to the bottom of the ocean of the 4,000 books published a day on the platform, that squeaked and were never heard from again. If there’s anything authors want, it is to be heard….so here I am.
Some of you are on other personal lists and will have already received this news…I’m new to the whole list business…so I apologize to you. But after years of writing and angst, what poem to leave in what to leave out, months of cover design decisions and promotion…here she is. And I’m proud of her.
If your TBR pile is already full, no worries. Thank you so much for signing up for my newsletter, reading this message to the end and mostly for caring about books! I’ll get back to my mini reviews next week. I’ve included more links below just in case this finds you somewhere outside Canada.
In gratitude,
Kelly
