Kelly's Book Log: Book Launch Party, Sat Sept 21, 2-4:30

In case you missed it my poetry book, The Weeping Degree: How Astrology Saved Me From Suicide was published by Wild Rising Press, Colorado this summer. The Amazon Pub Date was August 21, 2024. You all listened to my request and bought the book on that day and/or shortly afterwards and as a result it became an Internaational Amazon Bestseller in three categories for almost an entire week.

I WANT TO START this post BY SAYING A BIG THANK YOU to those of you who bought my wee poetry book on that date. The Weeping Degree was a labour of love and became a bestseller 100% because of all of you, my literary friends and community, and the support you gave yours truly. Wow, what a lesson in interdependence. And the importance of human connection. I was truly humbled by the whole enterprise. And moved by the responses people shared after reading the book. So thank you thank you thank you!

This post is essentially a reminder of the book party. I will return to mini reviews next Friday. Tomorrow's event is a celebration and about my giving back to you. I’m especially thrilled that I will be doing the launch with some of the members of my writers’ group, the WWRITERS: Women Writers in Transit. Once again, the launch is a communal effort. MC is Janet Myers, a wonderful novelist and author of the brilliant The Last Year of Confusion. I will do a short reading, ten minutes, and then be interviewed by insightful reviewer, blogger and local author, Ruth Edgett. If you haven't read her review of my book, the link is here: https://www.birchbarkediting.com/microlit-almanac-reviews/the-weeping-degree-watt-edgett

Astrologer Michael Zizis, who is quoted liberally in the book, should be on hand for any celestial questions. It should be fun. And a great opportunity to meet some really interesting people.

With the newsdominated by more cases of historical sexual abuse, I'm so glad I listened to my intuition to bring this book out now. The world clearly needs more healing. I think this is the beginning of not #metoo but #youtoo. Bring your books to be signed, your friends, and if you want to help me or The Weeping Degree, you can write a review of it on Amazon, if that's where you purchased it, or on Good Reads if you bought it at a bookstore. Hope to see you there, so that I can say thank you in person! #fridayreads #youtoo
